Abstract
:The paper described pillarisations ofnatural bentonite from Pacitan East Java of Indonesia by using AJ and Fe. 1ntercalat[on process by using surfactant molecule has also been carried out.Natural bentonite was intercalated with HDTMA.Br (hexadecyltrimethylammonium.bromide11.5% solution before pillared with AI and Fe metal to give HDTM A.bentonite forms. The ratio of bentonite and intercalating agent or pillaring agent was 1 gr/50 mL.The mixture was agitated.and then the solid phase was washed with distilled water. Then it was dried and calcined at 450~C for 4 hours.Their catalytic act[v[ty and selectivity were studied for phenol hydroxylation using tIzO2 I3O%1.The reaction condition of this reaction wlds as fo[1ows: rafio of phenol/Iq2()2: ¨ (molar ratio),concentration of phenoJ: l M.reaction temperature was 60。C.and ratio of catalyst/phenol was I:1 0.The products were hydroquinone and catheco1.
