Abstract
This study examines the potential synergy between central and local government policies in Indonesia. The conceptual analysis goes around the synergy on the policy planning, the central-local government budget, investment poliies, and inflation targeting policies. The spirits of sustainable development and the harmony of central and local policies are used as a conceptual framewotk to discuss the related issues. The synergy in planning is the first important issue in harmonizing the central and local government poliies. The synergy on budget is crucial in supporting the implementation of planning. The synergy in inverstment policies might attract foreign investment as well as domestic investment, whereas the synergy in inflation targeting maintains a stable rate of inflation.
