Abstract

INTRODUCTION Mercury, one of heavy metal elements that has been prohibited by Indonesian Government, is still used in many cosmetic formula. A low concentration of mercury in cosmetic can cause toxic and carcinogenic effects in human.However,these cosmetics are broadly used by teenagers and women because of their interesting package , cheap price and wide availability both in traditional and modem markets. In regards to this issue,this research was designed to determine the level of mercury in some cosmetic products.
