The results showed that the total number of bacteria in the mouth before and after using tongue cleaner are significantly diffrent both in male and female subjects based on paired t-test with α < 0,05. Tongue cleaner also able to reduce the number of pathogenic bacteria of Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus sp., and Porphyromonas gingivalis. The avarage number of Streptococcus sp.before using tongue cleaner are 10.387 x 105 cfu/mL and after using tongue cleaner are 1.638 x 105 cfu/mL. The avarage number of Porphyromonas gingivalis before using tongue cleaner are tongue cleaner adalah 15.926 x 105 cfu/mL The avarage number of 545 x 105 cfu/mL. The avarage number of Enterococcus faecalis sebelum dibersihkan dengan tongue cleaner adalah 15.989 x 105 cfu/mL and after using tongue cleaner are 3.506 x 105 cfu/mL. The total number of bacteria in the mouth of female subjects are more numerous than the male subjects.
