Abstract
Depression is a mental health issue that often found in the world. In emerging adulthood, depression may lead to difficulties in the main developmental tasks which are related in work or education and in establishing and maintaining intimate relationships. Body dissatisfaction is one of the risk factors of depression. The correlation between body dissatisfaction and depression is moderated by emotional regulation. Individuals who have a negative evaluation of their appearance and tend to not using effective emotional regulation strategies are more vulnerable to depression. Depressed individuals usually find it difficult to express their thoughts and feelings verbally so this has emerged attention in research using nonverbal therapies such as art therapy. The purpose of this study is to determine whether art therapy can reduce depressive symptoms in emerging adults with body dissatisfaction. The subjects of this study were women aged 18-25 years (N=2) that were chosen using purposive sampling. This study used the single case experimental design with trend analysis as the analysis techniques. The results showed that art therapy was effective in reducing the symptoms of depression in the subjects.
