Abstract

Preliteracy skill becomes more popular nowadays because of their importance. These skills can help children to understand the process of reading and to prepare the children, so they have the foundational skill for reading readiness. The purpose of present study was to analyse the aspect and type of interventions to develop or to increase the preliteracy skill. After the examination, there were six aspects of the selected previous studies, including phonological awareness, visual discrimination, alphabet knowledge, print concept, oral language, and writing skill. Each aspect had its roles and benefits for the development of preliteracy skills. Home was the main environment involved in the development of preliteracy skills. Parents could arrange their house according to children’s age based on the environmental print. Besides the print, they could perform shared book reading with children. School environment was also important for development of preliteracy skills. The multimodal features within digital tools such as tablets and apps could support letter name, sound learning and aspects of preliteracy skill development.
