Abstract

On this time, the development of products in the cosmetic world is progressing rapidly. The more advanced technological developments in cosmetics, will give new challenge the purpose and the dosage form. Earlier, cosmetics only use for decorative interest, but at the moment, almost entire products used as multi-functional cosmetics, providing moisture to the skin, UV filters, and also less irritating the skin compared to conventional product. With the development of multi-functional cosmetic products, encouraging the development of raw materials that also have various function, such as titanium dioxide (TiO2) which can provide a white pigment color and UV filter at the same time. Ultrafine TiO2 particles improve the characteristics without reducing its ability as a UVA and UVB photoprotective sunscreen. TiO2 nanoparticles found that reactive oxygen species (ROS) which can damage cells, this problem solved with coating TiO2 nanoparticles with alumina or silica. The development has caused TiO2 used in various types of cosmetic products, namely sunscreen, BB or CC cream, foundation, lipstick, and so on. This review will discuss about coated titanium dioxide with some coating agent to enhance its function as a UV filter and to obtain information and uses of titanium coated in cosmetics make-up product.
