Abstract

Research has been actively conducted to incorporate functional nanomaterials (FNM) into polymer matrices as membranes for various applications. To realize the industrial application of such membranes, several challenges need to be addressed. This chapter discusses several challenges of the membranes including poor dispersibility of the nanomaterials in the polymer matrix, the aggregation of nanomaterials, and nanomaterials leakage. In addition to the challenges, proposed approaches, such as surface modification of nanomaterials and optimizing nanomaterials loading, are discussed in this chapter.
