This study investigates the utilization of an interactive 3D animation in learning biology among high school students in Indonesia. The specific topic chosen in this research was human bone structure. An interactive 3D application was further developed using Unity and can be used as a tool for the targeted students to get a good experience in their learning process. Thirty volunteer students were invited to participate in the research and divided into two groups containing fifteen students each. The first group (control group) students had to learn the human bone structure using books. In contrast, students in the second group (experiment group) adopted the developed 3D animation as their new learning method. The statistical testing, an independent t-test, was then executed to determine whether students who adopted the 3D animation could obtain better scores than the ones who used ordinary books. Meanwhile, a self-administered questionnaire was delivered to examine students’ level of satisfaction based on the Hedonic Motivation System Adoption Model (HMSAM). The results confirmed the impact of interactive 3D animation usage on students’ level of understanding in learning human bone structure, which leads to higher scores. In addition, the findings showed that students get high satisfaction in using a 3D application in terms of enjoyment, usefulness, ease of use, controllability, and behavior intention.
