Abstract
Teachers have various roles, namely as colleagues, administrators, students, and parents. Moreover, teachers in Christian schools are expected to be role models for students in implementing Christian values. Workload and challenges faced by teachers can cause stress. Accumulated unresolved stress results in emotional exhaustion. Men and women respond and solve problems in different ways. This study examines differences in emotional exhaustion based on gender and marital status of teachers in Christian schools. This study used the Maslach Burnout Inventory on the dimensions of emotional exhaustion for 102 teachers at Christian schools in Surabaya. The result showed that there was no significant difference in emotional exhaustion between male and female teachers (p = 0.409), as well as married and unmarried teachers (p = 0.766). This indicates that male and female teachers have similar levels of emotional exhaustion, as well as teachers with married and unmarried marital status.
