Abstract

Suicide ideation is a serious issue in the field of mental health. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in reducing suicide ideation. The method employed in this study is a systematic literature review based on the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) Protocol. A literature search was based on inclusion and exclusion criteria using the keywords “Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy” AND “suicide ideation” on the databases Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Pubmed. The results provide strong evidence that MBCT can be a therapeutic option for reducing suicidal ideation in various situations and patient groups. Subsequent research may focus on factors that moderate or mediate the effects of MBCT on suicidal ideation, as well as exploring the potential application of MBCT in specific populations. A better understanding of the effectiveness of MBCT can guide efforts to address suicide ideation more effectively and sustainably in vulnerable populations.
