Abstract

Loneliness, boredom, and feelings of abandonment from family are complex psychological issues that older adults in nursing homes often experience. This community service aims to identify the psychological needs and stimulate the subjective well-being of the elderly, ultimately helping them find meaning in old age. The method used includes painting together as an assessment, followed by group counselling as a form of intervention. The assessment involved ten elderly individuals aged 70–85 years at Panti Werdha Pangesti Lawang, where they expressed their feelings and experiences through the art of painting. The results showed that painting activities not only helped the elderly express thoughts that were dif icult to convey verbally but also became a medium for meaningful self-reflection. The group counselling intervention further explored their social and emotional needs, especially the need for social interaction and family presence. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of paying attention to social and emotional needs, as well as family support, in improving the subjective well-being of the elderly in nursing homes.
