Abstract

This activity aims to increase the capacity of village partners in developing essential oil villages through directed field learning at the Brawijaya University Atsiri Institute and Omah Atsiri Baloga, Batu City. This activity was attended by farmer group partners, PKK, and Bumdes. Activities included observation of the essential oil downstreaming process, derivative product innovation, and product commercialization, as well as discussions with experts. At the Atsiri Institute, participants received exposure related to research and innovation of essential oil-based products, while at Omah Atsiri, participants had the opportunity to learn about the diversity of essential oil plants, product innovation, and models of empowering essential oil-based MSMEs. Evaluation was carried out using pretests and posttests. The results of the activity showed an increase in community understanding of essential oil plants, essential oil production methods, product differentiation, and marketing strategies, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 57 to 97. The highest increase occurred in the aspects of product diversification and marketing strategies. In addition, standard operating procedures for village-scale essential oil production were developed, covering the stages of cultivation, harvesting, raw material storage, distillation, and product storage. Training modules for essential oil product diversification, including soap and perfume manufacturing procedures, were also developed. These activities accelerated knowledge transfer and strengthened the local, sustainable economy
