Abstract
This paper presents a simulation model used to size and assess the performance of a PV installation using SolarGIS-pvPlanner, particularly for house hold installation in Surabaya, Indonesia. The average daily sum of global irradiation on the horizontal surface is found about 5.54 kWh/m2 with about 43% of diffuse radiation. The optimum panel orientation for fixed mounted was found with azimuth of 45° and inclination of 13o. The mounting system type significantly affects the specific electricity production of a PV system. Economic analysis shows that under current conditions, the solar PV system for household electrification is not economically viable in Surabaya.
