Abstract

Repetitive manual lifting task in mineral water gallon pack company have a risk that can caused Low Back Pain (LBP). Further more, if it done with incorrect lifting method. The LBP often happens to the lifting worker at "AA" Company. The lifting worker is a worker whose duty is lifting and moving the gallon pack from one pallet to another. "AA" Company is an agent who sell mineral water gallon pack at Surabaya, that have 3 lifting workers. An unproductivity problem, such as the absence of the lifting worker is the main problem in "AA" Company. Trough this application, called "NIOSH lifting equation" can be seen and directly explained that the difference of lifting habit is a main factor that caused LBP to the lifting worker at "AA" Company. Based on the "NIOSH lifting equation" simulation of these three lifting workers, showed these Lifting Index (LI) value: worker 1 (3,94), worker 2 (2,79) and worker 3 ( 1,82). Which is LI >1, means a potential value that caused LBP. So it is clearly proved that by applying NIOSH lifting equation, can show that manual lifting task worker 3 (LI = 1,82) is the best method so far, so that can be used as work standard in repetitive manual lifting task to reduce LBP case at "AA" Company.
