Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of working capital on the profitability of companies in Indonesia. This study uses secondary data companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange the period 2008-2011. The sample used includes companies listed in the LQ-45 index. This Research uses a regression analysis. Working capital is measured through the cash conversion cycle, accounts payable deferral period, accounts receivable conversion period, and inventories conversion period. The results showed that the cash conversion cycle has no significant effect on profitability. Components of the cash conversion cycle is the average collection period is also not affect profitability, while the other components are average payment period and the inventory conversion period is a significant positive effect. The results showed the condition of the economic cycle is not a factor that strengthens or weakens the cash conversion cycle for corporate profit, and industry sector does not affect the profitability of the company.
