Abstract

The concept of a smart city includes many factors including the presence of various devices with sensors to collect data that helps facilitate community activities. This makes collecting personal data of city dwellers an unavoidable fact. This condition will create new problems for the community, especially related to data security. The collection and storage of personal data pose a risk to the private life of every resident, therefore efforts are needed to prevent this data from being accessed by unwanted third parties. In this case, smart city managers must provide end users with transparency policies for data exchange, confidentiality and security. The need for transparency and security policies is offered by blockchain technology. Blockchain becomes very interesting when it is integrated with other technologies such as IoT networks and AI. Integrated Blockchain and IoT networks support deployments that require physical integration with multi-party interactions based on the truthfulness of shared data. Adding AI models can help manage these transactions, for example in food spoilage detection, drug ingredient detection, inventory optimization, and detecting fake or unauthorized transactions. Smart cities cannot be separated from the role of technology, but what needs to be researched is how technology can function as a driver or enabler for the creation of smart cities. This book presents research results that aim to identify the role of Blockchain, IoT and AI in shaping smart cities and examine the use of Blockchain, IoT and AI technologies in food supply chains. The answers from this study were obtained through literature analysis and empirical research using case studies of the fishing industry supply chain.
