Abstract

Stockholders who own shares must accept the risk of stock price volatility. A company's stock price moving swiftly and with a large difference between the highest and lowest price is said to have high volatility. The dividend policy, which includes the dividend payout ratio and dividend yield, can have an impact on stock price volatility. Dividends provide information about a company's performance, and as a result, they may trigger a market response that influences the stock price of the company. The goal of this study is to determine whether dividend yield and payout ratio have an impact on stock price volatility. The companies that listed on the IDX between 2017 and 2021 were all the subjects of this study. Secondary data were employed in this investigation, and the sample size was decided upon utilizing purposive sampling. In this study, 1867 samples were employed, and the multiple linear regression test was the analysis method. According to the study's findings, dividend yield and payout ratio have a considerable impact and a polarized relationship. According to this study, stock price volatility will decrease as dividend payout and yield increase. The findings of this study further demonstrate that firm size and earnings per share also significantly affect stock price volatility. Future research can concentrate on other variables such as dividend policy and other external variables that can impact stock price volatility.
