Abstract

Research on anthropometry is useful to achieve appropriate and effective designs for high performance and productivity. The collection of anthropometric data has been through a conventional method to a very sophisticated technology (such as, 3D measurement and error detection procedures). Lack of this anthropometric consideration for system design may lead to work-related injuries. This paper reports the update of anthropometric data of the Indonesian population by utilizing data from university students. This study extended the study done by Chuan et al. (2010) presenting the anthropometry of Indonesian population. More than three hundred data are reported in this research. These anthropometric data are divided into two sub-groups, namely, Indonesia citizens and Indonesia Chinese. Thirty six measurement dimensions (Pheasant and Haslegrave, 2006) were used. The expected contributions of this study are: i) an updated anthropometric database of Indonesians with a case study of university students, and ii) a projection of dimensional changes over time from comparing past to more recent anthropometric data. This study also updated the Body Mass Index (BMI) for all sub-groups.
