Abstract
Nurses are one of the experts in the field of health that has an important role in treating patients. Nurses are required to work professionally when doing their job, such as working kindly in front of the patient and completing their work in accordance with the demands given by the organization. The number of demands received by nurses resulted in the nurse’s profession prone to burnout. The phenomenon that makes the psychological welfare of nurses need to be noticed, one that needs to be considered is the social support received by nurses has been fulfilled. The study aims to test the relationship between social support and burnout. Research participants are 67 hospital X nurses who have worked for at least two years. The measuring device Social Support questionnaire short Form (SSQSR) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) are used to measure social support and Burnout. Data analysis is performed using Spearman correlation. The results of the analysis showed that there was a negative relationship between the quality aspects of social support with burnout (r =-0.397; p < 0.001) but found no connection between the quantity of social support aspects with burnout (R =-0.114; p < 0.05). The results indicated that individuals could cope with burnout when being able to feel the satisfaction of received social support instead of the amount of social support received
