Abstract
Dual worker couples faced more stress than non worker (only husband work) couples related to professional, parental and marital (Wanamaker & Bird, 1990; Guelzow, et al., 1991). This study intend to identify kind of coping strategy that effective for handling stress, differences in coping strategy due to gender, and variables that correlated effectively with coping strategy. Using literature review of 22 research reports since 1984 until 2016, got from JSTOR, APA, Emerald, Springer Link with key word “dual worker couples”, “dual earner couples”, “dual income couples” and ““coping stress”, concluded that not only individual coping but also coping strategies which involved external parties are effective to handle stress, conflict in dual worker couples. Coping Strategies that involved partner were not only effective for reducing conflict and stress but also correlated significant with marital quality.There are differences in effective coping strategy based on gender.
