Abstract

Backgrounds: Pulmonary TB, is a deadly infectious disease and is the one of the problems of concern to the world, including Indonesia. TB and respiratory viral infectious diseases, including COVID-19, have a certain similarity, where these two diseases mainly affect vulnerable populations through droplets. People with TB co-infection Covid-19 can show the same clinical manifestations as cough, fever, and difficult of breath. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics, suitability of treatment, and clinical outcomes of TB co-infection Covid-19 at The Regional General Hospital Pasuruan, Indonesia for the period of March 2020-February 2022. Methods: This research is a non-experimental study with a retrospective design, using medical records of pulmonary tuberculosis and Covid-19 co-infected patients. We used total sampling to collect the patients and a total of 14 samples were used in the study. Evaluation of treatment is carried out based on the suitability of the patient's treatment with TB and Covid- 19 guidelines. Results: The characteristics of patients can be seen from gender (50% are male), age category (elderly as much as 57.15%). The suitability of patient therapy is seen based on the right type of antituberculosis drugs (78.6%) and Covid-19 drugs (71.4%); the right dose of antituberculosis drugs (47.5%) and Covid-19 drugs (100%); the right frequency of antituberculosis drugs administration (100%) and Covid-19 drugs (89.7%); the right duration of antituberculosis drugs administration (78.6%) and Covid-19 drugs (68.4%); and the right route of administration of antituberculosis and Covid-19 drugs obtained 100% right results. At the outcome, there were 57,1% patients died and 42.9% recovered. Conclusions: More than 70% of the patients studied in this study have received the right TB and Covid-19 treatment according to the TB and Covid-19 guidelines. Treatment evaluation needs to be carried out continuously according to the update in the guidelines. Keywords: Tuberculosis and Covid-19 coinfection, TB, Covid-19, treatment evaluation, outcome.
