Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between work-family conflict and the psychological well-being of workers in a long-distance marriage. This research uses quantitative methods. The total respondents of this study were 105 people who were obtained using purposive sampling. The scale used in this study is the Work-Family Conflict Scale and Psychological Well-Being Scale. Pearson's parametric correlation test results prove a significant negative relationship between the two variables. The regression test also strengthens the dynamics of the relationship between the two. The four dimensions of work-family conflict are also significantly negatively related to psychological well-being. The dimension of family interference with work-time based conflict has the highest correlation compared to the other three dimensions. These findings indicate that individuals in long-distance marriages are prone to experience work-family conflict, which can decrease their psychological well-being. Allegedly, this is caused by their partners' physical absence, so support as a resource for self-actualization in family roles is also minimal. Studies on the most appropriate forms of support for long-distance married couples need further research.
