Abstract
The unique gifted-child characteristicsl e d to unique lifeexpectanciesin their interaction withtheenvironment Theenvironment's reactionagainstthegiftedchidchara~risti~~manifestation affects the susceptibility of the gifted chid towids socio~wnomicaland personality problems, especially concerning hidher self-concept. Some important factors influencing personality development of the gifted child are: conhsing identity, imbalanced development, isolation, conflict between iiiendshipand actualization, perfectionism,and variouswonies due to excessiveemotional sensitivity. Some ways are proposed to help gifted children to gain a positive self-image, among others: creating positiveexperiencethrough interactionwith the environment,appreciating individual differences, encouraging opportunities to actualization, offering realistic goals and exposing to challanges according to their potentials.
