Abstract

Physical wellness often neglected in management control systems (MCS) study. Organization tend to control its member using both administrative and cultural way without considering their members’ wellness aspect. This 2 х 2 experiment aims to explore the impact of individual physical wellness on individual performance, optimism, and achievement using physical exercise before go to work as treatment. The subjects of this study were 49 undergraduate accounting students from our university. Subjects’ physical wellness, represented by whole body composition metrics, were measured using bioelectrical impendance analysis tools. We are using cryptography translation task based on Libby (2001) as experimental task. Our results show physical and mental wellness significantly influence performance and optimism, with physical exercise and skeletal muscle linked to better outcomes, while adversity quotient emerges as a key predictor of sustained effort and achievement. This study contribute to everyone and every organizations to give broader understanding on the importance of physical wellness and call to develop a sustainable work culture. However, gender imbalance among subjects may limit generalizability, calling for further research with more diverse samples.
