Abstract

Drugs, until now, have become everyone's concern, especially due to their very agile movements. In particular, women are now concerned about vulnerability to drugs. Not a few women are detained in prisons as a result of drug use, and some are even unable to adapt physically, mentally, and socially, and want to be released immediately. This condition allows the potential for fostered residents to experience mental disorders such as depression. In this case, good family functions are needed as long as the fostered residents process optimally at Lapas. Good family function can reduce the potential for deterioration of the mental condition of fostered residents. This study aims to see a picture of the level of depression experienced and an overview of the level of family functioning of Lapas Malang City women-assisted residents. This study uses quantitative descriptive methods with analysis of validity, reliability, meaning of ideal norms, and Pearson's Chi-Square. The results showed that there was a relatively high rate of depression and a relatively low family functioning. Depression and family functioning were not correlated, as indicated by the results of the Chi-Square test (χ² = 5.435, p = 0.795). The hope is that the results of this research will help formulate policies, assessments, and interventions needed for Lapas-assisted residents.
