Abstract

As social beings, humans need to engage in interactions with others. Communication becomes the easiest way to interact with others, aiming to convey or exchange information both in daily life and within organizations. In this communication process, the goal is to achieve mutual understanding between the communicator and the recipient of the information. However, there are still many misunderstandings that occur during this communication process. This research employs a qualitative descriptive research method, which aims to deeply understand human or social phenomena by providing a comprehensive and complex depiction that can be expressed in words. The findings of this study reveal several factors influencing the level of literacy. These factors include unclear information delivery, unreliable sources of information, and improper choices of language, words, and punctuation. Some of the issues can be anticipated by implementing strategies to enhance information comprehension. These strategies include selecting appropriate communication media, maximizing the role of communicators in delivering information, targeting the right audience, and implementing an empowering model. It is hoped that these strategies can foster mutual understanding between communicators and recipients of information
