Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Friendship Autonomy Support Questionnaire (FASQ) using the Rasch measurement model. A total of 695 adolescents aged 12–20 years participated in the study. The analyses were conducted through Principal Component Analysis of Residuals (PCAR) to assess unidimensionality, evaluations of item fit (infit and outfit), estimation of reliabi- lity and separation indices, examination of response category functioning, and detection of Differential Item Functioning (DIF) based on gender and age groups. The results showed that the Indonesian version of the FASQ met the unidimensionality assumption, with 51.2% of variance explained, demonstrated high item-level reliability (.98), and exhibited no significant demographic bias. The analysis also identified threshold disorde- ring in the response categories and a measurement gap in the lower ability range, indicating the need for scale refinement and the development of additional items. These findings strengthen the construct validity of auto- nomy support within a collectivistic cultural context and provide practical recommendations for enhancing the instrument’s sensitivity in assessing autonomy support in Indonesian adolescents’ friendships.
