Abstract
The introduction of Islamic financial instruments but their development has been rapid and they represent a considerable focus of interest for many Indonesians today, especially economists and financial experts. The most important reason for establishing a shariabank, particularly in countries where Muslims account for the bulk of their population, is simply that Islamic teachings prohibit the practice of riba (usury). This study was undertaken to gauge the knowledge of the multicultural group of the existenceof Islamic banks and their perception toward these banks. This study also determines the factors considered important by customers in selecting their financial institutions. This study found that because of the strong competition, customer expectation for high quality services and quick changes of technology, the Islamic banks should therefore consider to provide high quality productsand services to satisfytheir customer.
